{"id":344449,"date":"2021-05-19T06:00:29","date_gmt":"2021-05-18T20:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=344449"},"modified":"2021-05-19T06:00:29","modified_gmt":"2021-05-18T20:00:29","slug":"wic-sets-new-income-eligibility-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wic-sets-new-income-eligibility-guidelines\/","title":{"rendered":"WIC sets new income  eligibility guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.\u2019s CNMI Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children Program, more commonly known as WIC, announced new income eligibility guidelines yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>WIC is available to the CNMI\u2019s pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women; infants and children under the age of 5 who are at nutritional risk and who are at or below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WIC-graph.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-344450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WIC-graph-1024x429.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"402\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All WIC income eligibility guidelines are based on gross income\u2014meaning before taxes or other deductions. A pregnant woman is considered two family members.<\/p>\n<p>A person or certain family members who participate in other benefits programs\u2014such as the Nutrition Assistance Program (food stamp or NAP) or Medicaid\u2014 automatically meet the income requirement.<\/p>\n<p>To become a WIC client, call (670) 664-4084. For existing WIC clients who have an upcoming certification, it is important to maintain a working number to be reached at. If your number has changed, call WIC to update it.<\/p>\n<p>Bring the following to your WIC appointment:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Everyone who will be enrolling into the WIC Program<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Identification for adults (driver\u2019s license, photo ID)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Child\u2019s identification (shot record, birth certificate, crib card)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proof of income (30 days of recent paystubs, Medicaid card, NAP card)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proof of address (mail from CUC, NAP card, map to residence)<\/p>\n<p>WIC currently serves approximately 2,800 clients on Saipan, 135 on Tinian, and 126 on Rota.<\/p>\n<p>For general inquiries about the WIC Program or eligibility, call (670) 664-4084.\u2028Stay informed and up to date with what is going on at WIC by visiting CNMI WIC\u2019s Facebook<\/p>\n<p>page at www.facebook.com\/cnmi.wicprogram, or Instagram @cnmi.wic.\u2028WIC is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
