According to a statement from the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. yesterday, the individual was confirmed positive for COVID-19 through testing on arrival last Monday. CHCC says the individual has been moved to the designated isolation area for monitoring.<\/p>\n
The CHCC Communicable Disease Investigation\/Inspection team has already initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the new case, including passengers on the same flight.<\/p>\n
As of 6pm, CHCC says the individual\u2019s COVID-19 vaccination status has yet to be verified. <\/p>\n
COVID-19 in Guam<\/strong><\/p>\n The Joint Information Center in Guam recently announced that CDC has changed Guam\u2019s travel risk to Level 4. This means that travelers should avoid all travel to Guam, but if they need to go there, CDC recommends getting fully vaccinated.<\/p>\n CDC says even if travelers are fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, they should still wear a mask, stay 6 feet from others, avoid crowds, and wash their hands often.<\/p>\n In a statement from Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero, she says even if the travel risk has been upgraded, it shouldn\u2019t be seen as a setback in its recovery.<\/p>\n \u201cReopening our island is dependent on our ability to hold ourselves accountable. \u2026We know all too well how a single positive case can multiply into a cluster and the adverse effects on families, schools, and businesses,\u201d said Leon Guerrero.
