The CNMI recorded two fresh cases of COVID-19 after two passengers tested positive for the coronavirus yesterday. This brings the islands\u2019 total COVID-19 cases to 183 cases since March 28, 2020. <\/p>\n
The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. said the two individuals were identified by travel screening and confirmed diagnosis through fifth-day testing on May 26, 2021, and testing on arrival on May 27, 2021. <\/p>\n
The two individuals have been moved to the designated isolation area at the Kanoa Resort Alternate Care Site for close monitoring. <\/p>\n
The CHCC Communicable Disease Investigation\/Inspection team has already initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the new confirmed cases, including passengers on the same flight. <\/p>\n
Out of the 183 total COVID-19 cases, CHCC said 147 were identified by travel screening while 36 were local transmissions\u201411 from community-based tracing and 16 from contact tracing. <\/p>\n
The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority, meanwhile, continues to do its part in assisting the Governor\u2019s COVID-19 Task Force with transporting of all inbound passengers traveling into Saipan to the designated quarantine facility and providing free transportation for anyone needing to get the COVID-19 vaccine. As of May 26, 2021, COTA has conducted 16,724 trips related to the COVID-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n

Starting Sunday, May 30, CHCC and the Governor\u2019s COVID-19 Task Force will make the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine available at eight new outreach sites. Earlier, CHCC and the task force opened vaccination to 12 years and older. They are now able to be registered for COVID-19 vaccinations at all sites.
