Aldan has been appointed chief of the newly created Office of Information Technology within the Department of Finance.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Ralph DLG Torres notified legislative leaders last week about Aldan\u2019s appointment as chief information officer. He will be receiving $80,000 per annum. The governor\u2019s letter did not indicate Aldan\u2019s background.<\/p>\n<p>In executive order 2021-09 he issued last April 27, Torres directed Finance Secretary David DLG Atalig to create the Office of Information Technology, with the chief information officer serving under and reporting directly to Atalig.<\/p>\n<p>The governor said the lack of a centrally coordinated efforts on unified software platforms has placed the CNMI government at great risk of cyberattacks. Currently, most agencies and government facilities  either have in-house IT staff or outsource their IT needs to local or off-island third-party vendors.<\/p>\n<p>He said the lack of cohesion between software vendors between departments and agencies of the government inhibits collaboration and hinders adaptation to more advanced tools at great expense to the Commonwealth. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clifford H.
