Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the annual event was cancelled last year.

The non-profit organization followed the Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force’s directives and measures and were able to enjoy the event this year.

According to Japanese Society of the Northern Marianas vice president Hiroko Tajima, they divided the members into two teams—Team Red and Team White. There were various unique competitions such as ball toss, tug-of-war, and relays.

The ball toss game had players throw the balls into their team basket on the top of the high pole for a limited time. The balls in each of the baskets were then counted and the team that got the most balls won.

The tug-of-war had players from Team Red and Team White each pull the big rope from the opposite side. If either of the team’s mark on the rope passes the “judgement” line at the center, the team loses the game.

Nearly 100 members of the Japanese Society of the Northern Marianas enjoyed the 2021 Sports Day. The non-profit organization hopes to hold many other fun events such as Autumn Festival this year.

For more information on the Japanese Society of the Northern Marianas or their events, call Tajima at 287-8780. (PR)

[5

post-345963","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sports
["GET
