Current Rotaract Club of Saipan president Keoni Hosono will soon be moving back into his original role as club secretary, with current director of club service Richard Baleares assuming the club president role. The leadership shuffle was done so that Baleares can be relieved of social media and other community outreach responsibilities and to shift his focus toward organizing events later in the year.<\/p>\n

In a joint interview with Hosono and Baleares after the Rotaract\u2019s Summer Shoot-Out and Family Sports Fiesta last Saturday at the Kagman Community center, Hosono wished the best for the club\u2019s next president and Baleares detailed what he already has planned for the latter half of 2021 going into 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have faith in his ability to lead us in the next Rotaract year. …I\u2019ll be sure to make sure that all of our information is kept up to date, and also I\u2019ll be helping to relieve [Baleares] of all his responsibilities of posting stuff on social media,\u201d said Hosono.<\/p>\n

Baleares said he hopes to work closely with whoever will succeed him as director of club service to continue the Rotaract\u2019s community service activities.<\/p>\n

Among the possible events he hopes to organize in the future when he becomes club president is for Rotaract to host a \u201c5K Fun Run,\u201d another fighting game tournament in November to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Rotaract hosting its first ever Smash tournament last year in November, and a Summer Shoot-Out next year, where he plans to source more basketball racks and other equipment to hold an actual three-point contest and a skills challenge, akin to the NBA All-Star Weekend events.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to be busy, but we\u2019re also going to take it more slowly,\u201d said Baleares.<\/p>\n

Rotaract’s next upcoming event is its \u201cSummer Showdown\u201d on June 26, which will be a fighting game tournament featuring Super Smash Brothers and Tekken 7, with the venue still to be decided.
