This summer, high school students throughout the CNMI will have the opportunity to take part in an interconnected program that will teach and train them in in-demand sectors: Construction, Nursing, Education, and Entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n
The program, called the Summer Boot Camp program, which is a partnership between the CNMI Department of Labor\u2019s Workforce Investment Agency and the Public School System\u2019s Career Technical Education Program, will run for five weeks beginning on June 28, 2021, and ending on July 30, 2021.<\/p>\n
At the end of the program, students will earn an industry-recognized certificate, paving a career pathway into the workforce or postsecondary education. <\/p>\n
of Labor Secretary Vicky Benavente believes this cross-agency partnership can help reduce the skills gap and meet the growing demands of the CNMI\u2019s workforce. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis partnership aligns to one of the requirements of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act initiative to develop strategies that support career pathways as a workforce investment activity to individuals with barriers to employment, including youths,\u201d she said. \u201c\u2026The programs are industry-focused and offers opportunities for sector partnerships with key stakeholders within those industry clusters. We are excited and anticipate on forging greater partnerships with PSS and other stakeholders.\u201d <\/p>\n
