(JOSHUA SANTOS)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ana \u201cAnie\u201d DLG Gillespie, who is heavily involved with The Salvation Army on Saipan, was named the Rotary Club of Saipan\u2019s Citizen of the Year during an awarding ceremony held Tuesday evening at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan\u2019s Charley\u2019s Cabaret.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Tuesday night\u2019s Rotary Club of Saipan dinner included the induction of a new member and the announcement of new officers for the 2021-2022 Rotary year. <\/p>\n<p>In accepting the award, Gillespie likened the Rotary Club\u2019s purpose to the Bible verse Matthew 25:36, which states, \u201cI was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you visited me.\u201d Now 70 years old, Gillespie looks forward to many more years of service and dedication to her Christian faith.<\/p>\n<p>In her introduction, it was shared that Gillespie was previously a model, singer, and entertainer who saw great success in beauty pageant circuits in the CNMI and internationally. She then volunteered for multiple local civic groups on Saipan, and served as vice president for the Friendship Lions Club and was a member of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce in the past.<\/p>\n<p>She then married Salvation Army pastor Wayne Gillespie and subsequently turned to Christianity in 2001 and began her service for The Salvation Army in Guam. The two moved to Saipan in 2005 to create a Salvation Army on Saipan, where she and Wayne Gillespie remain based.
