{"id":347549,"date":"2021-07-08T06:05:26","date_gmt":"2021-07-07T20:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=347549"},"modified":"2021-07-08T06:05:26","modified_gmt":"2021-07-07T20:05:26","slug":"takecare-sues-ipi-for-over-200k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/takecare-sues-ipi-for-over-200k\/","title":{"rendered":"TakeCare sues IPI for over $200K"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TakeCare Insurance Company Inc. is suing Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC for over $200,000 for alleged breach of contract. <\/p>\n<p>TakeCare filed the complaint against IPI last week in the U.S District Court for the NMI, asking the court to issue a judgment against the defendant in the principal amount of $224,675.18 plus interest, attorney\u2019s fees and costs.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint, TakeCare, represented by attorney Steven Pixley, provided prepaid medical and dental insurance services for IPI\u2019s employees on Saipan for June, July, and August 2020, yet IPI failed to pay for these services.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe principal amount due is $215,491.82. However, despite repeated demands, Imperial Pacific failed to pay TakeCare for these services,\u201d Pixley said. \u201cImperial Pacific\u2019s failure to pay for the healthcare insurance services provided by TakeCare constitutes a breach of the written contract between the parties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On June 10, 2021, a formal notice of TakeCare\u2019s intention to file a civil action in the District Court was personally served on Imperial Pacific\u2019s account manager. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in a filed status report last Monday, IPI\u2019s parent company, Imperial Pacific International Holdings or IPIH, continues to uphold its settlement payments with the U.S. Department of Labor, directly paying its July 2021 settlement payment by wire transfer last July 2. <\/p>\n<p>According to IPI counsel Mi otts, previous payments were made by IPI itself using funds in the CNMI, but because this payment was a wire transfer, it was submitted a day late. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TakeCare Insurance Company Inc. is suing Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC for over $200,000 for&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[12497],"class_list":["post-347549","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-ipi"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/347549","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/24"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=347549"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/347549\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=347549"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=347549"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=347549"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
