The 16th Saipan & Northern Islands Municipal Council is soliciting input from residents, families, neighbors, friends, and businesses on the best approach forward with the Saipan Neighborhood Watch Program.<\/p>\n
The town hall meetings will be held on Saipan from 5:30pm to 6:30pm to solicit feedback about the installation of CCTV cameras initially at school bus stops (then later at sports and recreational facilities, public parks, etc.).<\/p>\n
The meetings are scheduled as follows:<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0July 13, 2021: Kagman Community Center in Kagman 3;<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0July 15, 2021\u2014Carolinian Utt in Garapan;<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0July 20, 2021\u2014Tanapag Social Hall (across Sta. Remedios Church); <\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0July 22, 2021\u2014San Vicente Youth Park;<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0July 27, 2021\u2014Koblerville Youth Center; and<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0July 29, 2021\u2014GTC Elementary School. <\/p>\n
In addition, residents can attend the meetings via Google Meet by sending their email address at least one day in advance to spnmunicipalcouncil@gmail.com for the meeting link. <\/p>\n
The goal of the Neighborhood Watch Program is to implement a year-round community-based \u201cneighborhood watch\u201d effort by all to preserve the safety and security of all\u2014children (famagu\u2019on), youth (manhobin), adults and elderly (man\u00e5mku\u2019), families, households, businesses, non-profit organizations, and public facilities\u2014in villages throughout Saipan.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur goal, too, is to call upon the 22nd Commonwealth Legislature\u2019s support to pass a bill (and appropriate annual project funding) to dedicate this project in honor of the lives of Maleina and Faloma Quitugua Luhk, who mysteriously went missing a decade ago on May 25, 2011,\u201d said municipal council chair Ana Demapan-Castro. \u201cEveryone\u2019s lives and peace of mind matter.\u201d<\/p>\n
