DeLeon Guerrero described as \u201cdisturbing and uncalled for\u201d a lawmaker\u2019s statement about \u201cdynamiting\u201d Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC\u2019s casino\/resort during a recent House Gaming Committee meeting.<\/p>\n<p>In talking about the House Gaming Committee\u2019s meeting last week during the CCC board\u2019s monthly meeting yesterday, DeLeon Guerrero said some of the statements some CNMI\u2019s policymakers gave at the meeting were \u201cvery disturbing\u201d and uncalled for.<\/p>\n<p>In reference to the role the CCC plays, DeLeon Guerrero said he heard a lawmaker demanding why the CCC doesn\u2019t immediately terminate IPI\u2019s casino license. \u201cI heard statements about burning down facilities, smithereens,\u201d DeLeon Guerrero said.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner Mariano Taitano said the word used by one House lawmaker was \u201cdynamiting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deleon Guerrero said those statements are uncalled for and not expected of policymakers.<\/p>\n<p>It was Rep. Vicente Camacho (D-Saipan) who said at the House Gaming Committee meeting that nobody really knows what to do with the unfinished IPI building and he doubts if anybody wants to buy it as it would be too expensive to fix. \u201cI think we should just kill it, and then we dynamite it,\u201d said Camacho, adding that CNMI then build a memorial for ancient burials at the site.<\/p>\n<p>DeLeon Guerrero conceded that lawmakers are granted immunity when they are in session but he pointedly expressed hope that lawmakers don\u2019t abuse those privileges. \u201cWe need to be mindful that it\u2019s a very difficult time,\u201d DeLeon Guerrero said.<\/p>\n<p>He cited the Jan. 6, 2021, incident at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. when a mob stormed the U.S. Congress. \u201cAnd who started it? \u2026They stormed the Capitol building because the former president called for. It\u2019s a very dangerous for anyone to be suggesting things like dynamiting a building.
