{"id":349549,"date":"2021-08-09T06:05:40","date_gmt":"2021-08-08T20:05:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=349549"},"modified":"2021-08-09T06:05:40","modified_gmt":"2021-08-08T20:05:40","slug":"cpas-king-hinds-is-the-new-app-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cpas-king-hinds-is-the-new-app-president\/","title":{"rendered":"CPA\u2019s King-Hinds is the new APP president"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_302269\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-302269\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Kimberlyn-King-Hinds-mug.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-302269\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Kimberlyn-King-Hinds-mug-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-302269\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kimberlyn King-Hinds<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The CNMI, through Commonwealth Ports Authority chair Kimberlyn King-Hinds, has assumed the position of president of the Association of Pacific Ports, over 20 years since the CNMI last held the position.<\/p>\n<p>According to King-Hinds, aside from it being an honor, taking on the role as president ultimately means improvements for CPA. \u201cIt\u2019s just another opportunity to explore how CPA can continue to improve so as improve the lives of the people of the CNMI,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The last time the CNMI held the position, according to King-Hinds, was over 20 years ago with Antonio S. Camacho at the helm of CPA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on the bylaws, [presidency] rotates but CPA has not taken it in over 20 years,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>King-Hinds said she is looking forward to the new role she will be taking on. \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to leading the APP and working with everyone to improve our port community through sharing knowledge and resources to benefit the communities we serve,\u201d she said during the annual APP meeting last July 29.<\/p>\n<p>Essentially, King-Hinds\u2019 new role means she\u2019ll be actively involved in advancing the mission of the organization, which is to promote efficiency and effectiveness in ports across the Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe APP is a well-run organization because of its seasoned members, officers, and forward-thinking executive director, which makes the job of president akin to a designated facilitator of meetings and discussions about advancing the mission of the organization. APP is a trade and information association founded in 1913 promoting increased efficiency and effectiveness of the ports of the Pacific,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>According to a press release from APP, King-Hinds took on the role following Ian Marr from the Port of Nanaimo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Association of Pacific Ports is very pleased to welcome Kimberlyn King-Hinds as our newly elected President,\u201d APP stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs chair of the CPA board of directors, King-Hinds has had a distinguished career balancing the practice of law in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and serving the public in various capacities. Currently in private practice addressing areas of family law, probate law and general civil litigation, King-Hinds is also currently the conflict counsel for the NMI Settlement Fund and legal counsel for the Tinian Mayor\u2019s Office.
