Angel A. Demapan (R-Saipan) to serve as House minority leader, a position that became vacant due to the untimely passing of Ivan A. Blanco. <\/p>\n<p>Demapan said he assumes the role of minority leader with great humility and respect for the confidence of his colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>He visited House Speaker Edmund S. Villagomez (Ind-Saipan) to personally inform him of his election as minority leader and extended his willingness to continue Blanco\u2019s open and diplomatic lines of communication. <\/p>\n<p>Blanco, 45, passed away last July 23 due to massive pulmonary embolism.<\/p>\n<p>Demapan said that Blanco left behind very big shoes to fill, and that it is the commitment of the House minority bloc to honor him by continuing his vision for a stronger and safer community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur hearts are still heavy with the passing of our dear brother, minority leader Ivan A. Blanco, but we also recognize that he would\u2019ve wanted us to continue the work he had begun,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Demapan is serving his third term in the House, having served in the 19th, 20th, and 22nd legislatures.<\/p>\n<p>The other members of the House minority bloc are vice speaker Blas Jonathan B.J. Attao, floor leader Ralph Yumul, and Reps. Roy Ada, Joel Camacho, Joseph Lee Pan Guerrero, Joseph Flores, John Paul Sablan, and Patrick San Nicolas. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nine members of the House of Representatives unanimously elected yesterday Rep.
