(Contributed photo)

“We had about nine agencies come out and four vendors, it was bumping and jumping for a little bit. The rain came in and we made the call to [cut it short] it for the safety of the kids. …We were hitting about 50 to 60 families [before the rain hit],” said Ogo.

He said he and OYA did not want to see children running out in the rain to claim their event prizes. They ended up handing out prizes to all of the event’s attendees.

Ogo said the office will “have a repeat” of a Family Fun Night at the San Vicente Youth Center, a “Movie Night” in September, and a Family Fun Night in Koblerville. OYA will also be offering its after-school tutoring program beginning Aug. 18, but how OYA will run its program will depend on how the CNMI Public School System will conduct classes this school year.

Ogo said his goal is to hold Family Fun Nights at every community center on Saipan, saying it is important that OYA’s events are spread out throughout Saipan. “I [want] to cater to the community in general. We understand that San Vicente is a distant drive from the north side so we do want to bounce around,” he said.

[4
11386
post-350037","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news","tag-family-fun-night
["GET
