Ralph DLG Torres said Friday that he will wait to be served first with the subpoena of the House of Representatives\u2019 Judiciary and Governmental Operations Committee before he can discuss what his next steps would be.<\/p>\n<p>Asked during a radio press briefing about the JGO subpoena and if he will speak at the JGO hearing, which is investigating Torres\u2019 travels and expenses, Torres said he was informed that the JGO had voted to subpoena him to show up at the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll wait for that subpoena to be served,\u201d the governor said. He did not elaborate as to what action he will take once served with the subpoena.<\/p>\n<p>The JGO, chaired by Rep. Celina R. Babauta (D-Saipan), approved last Thursday subpoenas that will require Torres and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, Department of Public Safety Commissioner Robert A. Guerrero, and several others to testify before the JGO in its probe on Torres\u2019 expenditures of public funds and travels.<\/p>\n<p>Babauta said the date of the witnesses\u2019 testimony would be subject to the availability of the House chamber and the JGO members\u2019 schedules.<\/p>\n<p>As of last night, Babauta said they have yet to finalize the subpoenas.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Torres described as \u201canother misleading information\u201d Rep. Edwin Propst\u2019s (D-Saipan) statement on social media that the governor is spending the CNMI\u2019s American Rescue Plan Act funds by raising the salaries of Cabinet members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no Cabinet members\u2019[salary] that\u2019s been raised through ARPA funds. So I don\u2019t think it\u2019s appropriate to be making comments when it\u2019s inaccurate,\u201d Torres said.<\/p>\n<p>Showing a copy of the administration\u2019s \u201cBusiness Unit Position Costing Summary,\u201d Propst said Torres is lying.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
