Beginning Aug.\u00a012, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration\u00a0Services\u00a0is temporarily extending the validity period for\u00a0Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record,\u00a0from\u00a0two\u00a0years to now\u00a0four\u00a0years\u00a0due to COVID-19-related delays in\u00a0processing.<\/p>\n
USCIS may consider a\u00a0completed\u00a0Form I-693 as valid if:\u00a0<\/p>\n
– The civil surgeon\u2019s signature is dated no more than 60 days before the applicant filed\u00a0Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status;<\/p>\n
– No more than four years have passed since the date of the civil surgeon\u2019s signature; and<\/p>\n
– A decision on the applicant\u2019s Form I-485\u00a0is\u00a0issued\u00a0on or before Sept. 30, 2021.<\/p>\n
We are making this\u00a0temporary\u00a0change because COVID-19 has caused\u00a0processing\u00a0delays and\u00a0affected\u00a0applicants\u2019 ability to complete the required\u00a0immigration\u00a0medical examination.\u00a0Previously, we considered a completed Form I-693 to retain its validity for\u00a0two\u00a0years after the date the civil surgeon signed, as long as the date of the civil surgeon\u2019s signature was no more than 60 days before the applicant filed for adjustment of status.<\/p>\n
USCIS is on track to approve more employment-based adjustment of status applications than it has since FY 2005.\u202f We have prioritized employment-based adjustment of status applications during every step of its processing and adjudication during this fiscal year. We continue to make processing and resource allocation decisions to increase the pace of adjudications and limit the potential for employment-based visa numbers to go unused.<\/p>\n
If you are applying for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident with USCIS (also known as applying for a Green Card), please file\u00a0Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, together with\u00a0Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. Doing so may eliminate the need for us to issue a\u00a0Request for\u00a0Evidence (RFE) and helps avoid adjudication delays.
