The University of Guam\u2019s\u00a0Isa Psychological Services Center\u00a0and the Guam Museum are collaborating to offer a virtual tour specially designed for older adults and persons with dementia who might not be able to visit the museum in person.<\/p>\n
The tour\u00a0is\u00a0part of Isa\u2019s online support groups for family caregivers of persons with dementia being conducted in collaboration with the UOG School of Health\u2019s Guam\/Micronesia Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program.\u00a0The virtual tour is meant to provide a stimulating and meaningful experience for participants to enjoy from the comfort and safety of their homes.<\/p>\n
Guam Museum curator Michael Lujan Bevacqua, who holds a doctorate in ethnic studies and specializes in CHamoru history, language, and culture, will be conducting the virtual tours. The tour will focus on the museum\u2019s second gallery, \u201cI Tasi yan I Tan\u00f3,\u201d which translates into \u201cThe Sea and the Land.\u201d The exhibit tells the story of the first CHamorus and how they thrived in a Pacific island environment several thousand years ago.<\/p>\n
