The Superior Court has imposed a $20,000 cash bail on a woman who was allegedly found in possession of a controlled substance following a violation stop. <\/p>\n
Jastalyn Vivas Camacho, 30, appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho last week for a bail hearing after she was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a controlled substance after she was stopped for a traffic violation.<\/p>\n
Camacho imposed a $20,000 cash bail on the defendant and remanded her to the custody of the Department of Corrections. She was ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 1 at 9am, and for her arraignment on Sept. 13 at 9am.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Karie Komstock was appointed by the court to represent the defendant while assistant attorney general James Houston appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
According to court documents, a police officer was conducting a routine patrol on Tun Herman Pan Road on Aug. 20, 2021, at around 2:10am when a sedan traveling at high speed swerved in front of his lane, almost causing a head-on collision. The sedan immediately swerved back to its lane going south.<\/p>\n
The police officer then made a U-turn, activated his emergency lights, and followed the sedan until it pulled over.<\/p>\n
When asked for her driver\u2019s license and registration, the driver of the sedan, Camacho, told the police officer that she did not have her driver\u2019s license with her.<\/p>\n
As the police officer was talking to Camacho, he noticed in plain view a clear bag containing a crystalline substance on top of the center console right in front of a gear under the radio player.<\/p>\n
When asked about the contents of the clear bag, Camacho said It was not hers but might know whose and refused to give names.<\/p>\n
A Drug Enforcement Task Force officer tested the crystalline substance, which weighed 0.7 grams, and it yielded presumptive positive for the presence of methamphetamine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
