(Contributed photo)

After going on hibernation for more than a month, the Marianas Racing Association is back and will be holding its Labor Day Race this Sunday, Sept. 5, at the Cowtown Raceway Park in Marpi.

MRA president Charles Cepeda they decided to hold a race this Labor Day to get the members together after a break from their points series.

“The race is for current members and for those who have joined our club recently. It’s a way to welcome new members into MRA and to Cowtown with the experience of a race day atmosphere. The Labor Day Race will keep the momentum of our members who have greatly improved in their skills of motocross riding from last season and to bring them to the next level,” he said.

Cepeda said this Sunday’s race could certainly be an annual event on Labor Day Race weekend. “We shall gauge the outcome of racers and fans this weekend.”

A change from MRA’s point series is that this weekend’s Labor Day Race will now feature a Beginners Class, which the MRA board added to give up-and-coming motocross enthusiasts an opportunity to test and measure their skills from all the practice rides they have been doing.

“We didn’t want to discourage them by inserting them with those who have participated in last season’s points series races. We welcome riders that understand their skill level is not at the same level as those who have raced the whole seven race points last year. These can be members who just recently started practicing at Cowtown to those who may have participated not more than two races last season and feel their skills require a few more experience. It could also be motocross riders from the past who have not raced in last year’s points series at Cowtown but want to give it a try, they too can join. The board will monitor those who register in the Beginners Class,” said Cepeda.

MRA rules state that in order to have a class there must be at least three racers registered. “We anticipate to have the minimum in the three—Beginners Class, PowerPuff, Big Boys ATV, and Big Bikes,” he added.

Included in the Labor Day Race will be the Mud Bug and Rock Crawling exhibitions from the Off Road Association. MRA invites off road enthusiast to come out to Cowtown and try out the mud pits and rock crawling lanes. MRA looks forward to the growth of its off road membership providing additional entertainment to the fans.

The MRA Labor Day Race is sponsored by Monster Energy Drink, YCO Hardware True Value, 4EVER CNMI, Ina’s Kitchen, and the Marianas Visitors Authority. If anyone is interested in becoming a member or participating in our race events, they may contact any of the MRA board members or call Cuki Alvarez 483-4662.

After going on hibernation for more than a month, the Marianas Racing Association is back…

[5
4883
post-351119","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sports","tag-mra
["GET
