The Department of Public Safety arrested a man who purposely destroyed objects at a bar to get the police attention because he allegedly wanted to get arrested. <\/p>\n
Last Monday, at around 5:37pm, DPS officers arrested habitual offender Zeric Gant, 22, at Relox Bar in Garapan after he threw a fit and damaged property because he said he wanted to get arrested. <\/p>\n
During a bail hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan imposed a $1,000 cash bail on Gant and remanded him back to Department of Corrections custody. <\/p>\n
He was ordered to return to court on Oct. 18 to be arraigned before Superior Court Presiding Judge Roberto Naraja. <\/p>\n
During the court proceedings, it was found that Gant was on probation for a crime involving assault and battery that he pleaded guilty to back in December 2020. <\/p>\n
According to a police report, police responded to a criminal mischief report at around 5:35pm last Monday at the Relox Bar. <\/p>\n
At the scene, police were immediately greeted by Gant who held both his hands out above his head and told police to arrest him and waste no time doing so. <\/p>\n
\u201cArrest me now, I want to go to jail. That\u2019s why I broke those things,\u201d Gant told responding officers, who handcuffed him and brought him to the Department of Corrections.<\/p>\n
During a preliminary investigation the following day, Oct. 5, DPS officers interviewed a witness named Benjawan Shuman, an employee at the nearby Sawadee Massage establishment. <\/p>\n
She told police that she locked herself inside the massage establishment along with two other colleagues because they were afraid of Gant whom they saw shouting outside. <\/p>\n
The witness said Gant was also kicking and hitting the walls of the nearby establishments and even kicked a street sign.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
