The Marianas Writers Movement wants to focus attention on the stories of the people of the Marianas this month, October, in recognition of Humanities Month and is sponsoring a student essay contest on the topic, \u201cStories Matter\u201d and the submissions are in. Nearly 80 students from high schools submitted their essays supporting the conclusion that stories matter\u2014to share culture, to entertain us, and to connect us together. <\/p>\n
Marianas Writers Movement will award prizes to five randomly selected student essayists at its October writing workshop. We also want to encourage people to come to the workshop. If you want to write short stories, novels, memoirs, family histories, poems or comics or graphic novels, we can help. Don\u2019t wait. Write with us. We\u2019ll also be having write-ins during November, National Novel Writing Month.<\/p>\n
