Well done! Nice booths, great food and drinks, lots of friendly, happy people. I saw people from at least 10 different countries, from near and far, but guess what, folks, some of us couldn’t eat or drink because the MVA doesn’t take cards. It’s 2014 and you can swipe cards on a cell phone or tablet. It’s not new; it’s been here for years.

Another thing, now that you have more money coming into your coffers, instead of hiring more paper shufflers, how about fixing the 365 non-working lights, 11 benches without seats and backs, five railings, and one bridge on the “tourist friendly” Beach Road Pathway. You might tell the grass cutters to clean up the clippings instead of leaving them on the walkway too. If the Beach Road Pathway isn’t your responsibility, take it away from whoever has it and do it yourself; it makes you look bad.

Marpi looks great; Garapan looks like a 4th World destination. After 35 years we should at least have sidewalks, street lights, zoning regulations for construction, trash and visible storage areas, a pleasant paint scheme for the Paseo de Marianas, and make absentee owners keep those stairwells clean and neat, and clear signs for our, and your, bread and butter, which is our tourists.

Gary DuBrall
Chalan Piao, Saipan

I went to the Taste of the Marianas last Saturday night.
