{"id":354752,"date":"2021-10-28T06:01:32","date_gmt":"2021-10-27T20:01:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=354752"},"modified":"2021-10-28T06:01:32","modified_gmt":"2021-10-27T20:01:32","slug":"fuel-up-15-cents-in-less-than-2-weeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/fuel-up-15-cents-in-less-than-2-weeks\/","title":{"rendered":"Fuel up 15 cents in less than 2 weeks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI saw another increase in fuel prices yesterday, with fuel up another 15 cents less than two weeks since the last price increase. <\/p>\n<p>Mobil Oil took the lead late afternoon yesterday after it raised its prices 15 cents, less than two weeks since it increased gas prices by 10 cents the prices. <\/p>\n<p>Mobil raised its Extra fuel price from $ 5.02 a gallon to $5.17. Mobil also raised its Supreme fuel from $5.47 to $5.62 while its diesel also went up from $5.33 to $5.43. <\/p>\n<p>As of 7pm press time, Shell Marianas had yet to raise its prices but both oil companies have typically mirrored each other\u2019s price increases and is expected to impose the same increase today. <\/p>\n<p>According to a 22-year-old motorist, fuel prices are now ridiculously high, considering that everyone is just starting to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe islands, just like the whole world, have just started to bounce back from the economic downfall of this pandemic. Fuel prices shouldn\u2019t be this high because I\u2019m sure a lot of people can barely afford it right now,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Another motorist, a student at the Northern Marianas College, said her part-time job can barely keep her afloat, now that gas is higher than ever. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m one of those people who is dependent on gas because I go to school and I go to work right after. I can\u2019t not gas my car and I go through gas pretty quickly too. I hate that I have to choose between filling up my car, or grabbing lunch, or paying my phone bill.
