{"id":355164,"date":"2021-11-04T06:00:20","date_gmt":"2021-11-03T20:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=355164"},"modified":"2021-11-04T06:00:20","modified_gmt":"2021-11-03T20:00:20","slug":"matson-publishes-new-environmental-sustainability-goals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/matson-publishes-new-environmental-sustainability-goals\/","title":{"rendered":"Matson publishes new environmental sustainability goals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HONOLULU<\/strong>\u2014Matson, Inc., a leading U.S. carrier in the Pacific, has published new long-term environmental goals in a Sustainability Report 2020 Supplement that commit the company to reducing fleet greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030, and achieving net zero fleet GHG emissions by 2050. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to doing our part in helping the world decarbonize and limit climate change,\u201d said Matt Cox, chairman and chief executive officer. \u201cWe believe we have a responsibility to significantly reduce our carbon footprint by lowering our greenhouse gas emissions and our aim is to achieve these medium- and long-term goals by improving fleet and operational efficiency. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMatson is supporting efforts to create an industry-funded research and development program to accelerate zero-carbon fuels and technologies.
