Police officers stationed at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan arrested a man for allegedly trespassing at the site, which is a designated COVID-19 quarantine site.<\/p>\n
Two police officers arrested Taisacan Joseph Taisacan, 23, last week, for allegedly trespassing at the PIC quarantine site. Police noted that Taisacan was arrested months prior on similar charges.<\/p>\n
During his initial bail hearing last Monday, Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan imposed a $500 cash bail on Taisacan and he was remanded back to Department of Corrections custody.<\/p>\n
Taisacan, who waived his preliminary last Monday, will be arraigned on Nov. 29, at 9am before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph Camacho.<\/p>\n
According to court documents, Department of Public Safety officers Rodigan Jepen and Edwin Basto had been conducting a routine check at the northern beach side of PIC when Jepen saw a shirtless male, later identified as Taisacan, making his way toward the northern gate of PIC. He then turned and began walking toward the beach side.<\/p>\n
Jepen noted that he recognized Taisacan from a previous encounter when he had actually entered the facility without authorization.<\/p>\n
As Jepen was notifying his immediate supervisor about Taisacan, the trespasser allegedly tried to flee leading to a pursuit on foot that resulted in his arrest. Taisacan was arrested on charges of criminal trespass and nuisance.<\/p>\n
According to Basto, he was approximately 50 feet away from Jepen when he heard Jepen talking to someone. Basto then turned around and began making his way towards Jepen.<\/p>\n
As Basto made his way toward Jepen who was transmitting over the radio and<\/p>\n
communicating with their supervisor, Taisacan took off running south toward Pak Pak Beach located south of the quarantine site.<\/p>\n
Basto said Jepen ran after Taisacan and shortly after, he saw Jepen tackle him to the ground.<\/p>\n
Basto said he assisted Jepen in securing Taisacan before escorting him to the front parking lot where he was later picked up and transported to the Department of Corrections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
