Terrence A. Fitial, a man who was slapped with a 10-year prison term in 2011 for attacking and injuring a security guard in an attempt to rob a poker arcade, is now applying for parole.<\/p>\n
According to the Board of Parole\u2019s notice, Fitial is among five parole applicants who was heard yesterday at the Department of Public Safety\u2019s conference room.<\/p>\n
In April 2011, Fitial pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon as part of a plea deal. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, all suspended except 10 years.<\/p>\n
The remaining charges\u2014attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery\u2014were dropped as part of the deal.<\/p>\n
According to court records, Fitial and Aliston H. Santos tried to rob S.V. Poker on Aug. 30, 2010. During the attack, Fitial assaulted Edward Santos, a security guard, with a knife. <\/p>\n
After their arrest, the two admitted participating in the early morning attempt to rob the poker arcade.<\/p>\n
The defendants told police that they had been drinking at Fitial\u2019s grandmother\u2019s house in San Vicente when they decided to rob S.V. Poker.<\/p>\n
The two failed to get any money after Santos fought them off. The guard sustained deep cuts on his left thumb and left forearm, but he managed to disarm Fitial during the struggle. <\/p>\n
Responding patrol officers arrested Fitial in the vicinity of the S.V. Poker, then later apprehended Santos in San Vicente.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
