{"id":3583,"date":"2012-02-20T08:25:50","date_gmt":"2012-02-20T08:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newspaper.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=3583"},"modified":"2012-02-20T08:25:50","modified_gmt":"2012-02-20T08:25:50","slug":"sources-ex-convict-investigated-in-connection-with-romero-killing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/sources-ex-convict-investigated-in-connection-with-romero-killing\/","title":{"rendered":"Sources: Ex-convict investigated in connection with Romero killing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Ferdie de la Torre<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>Detectives are investigating an ex-convict in connection with the killing of bartender Emerita \u201cEmie\u201d Relata Romero, sources disclosed yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said the ex-convict, who is a known \u201cice\u201d user, was among the persons investigated by detectives last week.<\/p>\n<p>The ex-convict, sources said, has been seen regularly hanging out at Garapan nightclubs.<\/p>\n<p>Romero and the ex-convict possibly knew each other, sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives, sources said, have tried to verify information that the ex-convict&#8217;s car was seen at the Marianas Resort area between Feb. 5 and 6, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>It was not clear whether something substantial came out during the investigation of the ex-convict last week, a source said.<\/p>\n<p>Other sources, however, stated that there are also rumors that the ex-convict may have information about the killer.<\/p>\n<p>Sources also disclosed that investigators have narrowed down the suspect&#8217;s car as a Toyota sedan.<\/p>\n<p>Saipan Tribune opted not to disclose the model so not to jeopardize the ongoing authorities&#8217; investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Romero was last seen alive boarding a green or blue tinted sedan around 3am on Feb. 5 near her residence in Garapan.<\/p>\n<p>During a search, FBI agents found her body two days later in the northernmost building of the former La Fiesta Mall in San Roque.<\/p>\n<p>Romero&#8217;s remains were flown to the Philippines on Saturday morning aboard a Delta Air Lines flight via Japan.
