Carmel Cathedral in Susupe.<\/p>\n<p>A similar outreach was held on Tinian the week before on May 9 to 10 at Tinian Dynasty Hotel &#038; Casino.<\/p>\n<p>Consul Mark F. Hamoy said the three-day event is a regular outreach that provides consular services for passports, civil registry, and notary services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey go through a two-stage process where they enlist in advance because it is limited and we capture their data and biometrics,\u201d Hamoy said.<\/p>\n<p>Hamoy said they work on 120 passport applications per day, for a total of 480 for the entire four-day outreach on both Tinian and Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have walk-ins as well. We provide services and they take the chance because if the quota is not yet filled we take those who are qualified,\u201d Hamoy said.<\/p>\n<p>Nelly Sablan, 52, who missed the outreach on Tinian due to a three-day track-and-field competition for her students, said she came to Saipan to renew her passport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am a coach and I missed the outreach on Tinian because we were here on Saipan for a competition at [Gilbert C.] Ada Gymnasium, so I came to this one to renew my passport, which is almost expired,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Bhoyet Tapaoan, 46, said he came with his girlfriend to renew his passport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is difficult because if there is no schedule or appointment they sometimes cannot accept walk-ins,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>United Filipino Organization volunteers and District 204 Lions Club of Saipan members aided the Philippine consulate. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are volunteering, arranging, and introducing clients for renewal and extension of passports,\u201d said Nenita Marquez of Lions Club.<\/p>\n<p>Florence Miranda of UFO said that some clients come with questions about expired passports and if they want to renew their CW status they have to extend their passport.<\/p>\n<p>Hamoy said the documents that the public turns in are processed already and if they don\u2019t have the required documents they won\u2019t be accommodated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny reason to extend passport is if you are renewing your CW for employment, going off-island for medical condition to be treated, or if someone died in your family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Hamoy said that the process takes time, especially for passports. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will go to the Philippines then to Guam and then we email or contact our clients if their passport is here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>UFO\u2019s Anna De Guzman said that she sometimes pick up the passports when she goes to Guam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I go to Guam for check up, sometimes I pick up passports for clients if they give me their receipts,\u201d De Guzman said.<\/p>\n<p>For questions or clarifications regarding the mobile consular outreach, call the Philippine Consulate General at its toll free number (670) 682-2222. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam, concluded its three-day mobile consular services on Saipan&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":45,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[145,118,51,63],"class_list":["post-35830","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-ada-gymnasium","tag-cw","tag-guam","tag-philippines"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35830","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/45"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=35830"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35830\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=35830"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=35830"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=35830"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
