{"id":358452,"date":"2021-12-27T06:01:36","date_gmt":"2021-12-26T20:01:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=358452"},"modified":"2021-12-27T06:01:36","modified_gmt":"2021-12-26T20:01:36","slug":"public-warned-of-rip-current-risk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/public-warned-of-rip-current-risk\/","title":{"rendered":"Public warned of rip current risk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The public is being warned that a high rip current risk now is now in effect through Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, large breaking waves up to 9 feet are producing dangerous rip currents in east facing reefs through this afternoon. <\/p>\n<p>Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. <\/p>\n<p>The public is advised to stay out of the water along east facing shores. Elsewhere, swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don\u2019t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
