{"id":358618,"date":"2021-12-29T06:05:47","date_gmt":"2021-12-28T20:05:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=358618"},"modified":"2021-12-29T06:05:47","modified_gmt":"2021-12-28T20:05:47","slug":"scc-supports-vaxx-carding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/scc-supports-vaxx-carding\/","title":{"rendered":"SCC supports vaxx carding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Saipan Chamber of Commerce has expressed support for the suggestion to require certain businesses to check customers\u2019 vaccination status in order to enter a business.<\/p>\n<p>In a news release yesterday from SCC president Joe C. Guerrero, it said the SCC board of directors expresses its support for events, services,\u00a0and businesses to require and request a person\u2019s\u00a0proof of vaccination\u2014also called COVID-19 vaccination carding\u2014to access the venue or space.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It said this aligns with the recent suggestion by the Governor\u2019s COVID-19 Task Force to expand efforts in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and allow businesses to operate and recover during this pandemic. <\/p>\n<p>In an appearance during Gov. Ralph DLG Torres\u2019 radio news briefing Tuesday last week, task force chair Warren F. Villagomez said the task force is in talks right now with the Torres administration about possibly releasing a directive regarding businesses verifying the COVID-19 vaccination of its customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see that [it] is important to continue to put out efforts [that make] sure that we\u2019re not mixing communities that are not vaccinated or not complying with our measures\u2026to safeguard our community,\u201d he had said.<\/p>\n<p>In its news release yesterday, the SSC said the COVID-19 vaccination carding has been implemented throughout jurisdictions like Guam, Hawaii, and across the United States\u2014along with other mitigation efforts like touchless menus and touchless payment options. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe COVID-19 vaccination carding has been well received, successful, and has provided comfort and reassurance on initiatives taken to protect patrons and the general community in many areas. For this reason, SCC supports this mitigation effort,\u201d the news release states.<\/p>\n<p>Such events, services and businesses referred to are listed, but not limited to the following:<\/p>\n<p>-Indoor events (concerts, organized parties, conferences, trade fairs and workshops, etc.);<\/p>\n<p>-Restaurants and\u00a0cafes that offer indoor and outdoor dining\/table service.
