{"id":360019,"date":"2022-01-19T06:06:04","date_gmt":"2022-01-18T20:06:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=360019"},"modified":"2022-01-19T06:06:04","modified_gmt":"2022-01-18T20:06:04","slug":"25-new-covid-cases-in-nmi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/25-new-covid-cases-in-nmi\/","title":{"rendered":"25 new COVID cases in NMI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The number of COVID-19 cases in the CNMI has now climbed to a total of 3,971 with the addition of 25 more people who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Of the\u00a025\u00a0cases identified\u00a0on\u00a0Jan. 16, three were\u00a0identified via contact tracing,\u00a012\u00a0via community testing, and 10 via travel testing. The vaccination statuses of the\u00a025\u00a0cases are pending verification.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Communicable Disease Investigation\/Inspection team of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. has already initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the newly confirmed cases, and this effort will continue until all probable cases are identified and tested.<\/p>\n<p>The case total represents all positive cases of COVID-19 in the CNMI, counting from March\u00a026,\u00a02020, when the CNMI first recorded its positive cases.<\/p>\n<p>As of Jan. 17, 2022, there were\u00a0nine\u00a0individuals who have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19, with five of them unvaccinated, four vaccinated; and one on a ventilator.<\/p>\n<p>Of the total cases identified,\u00a0there have already been 3,543\u00a0recoveries, 407\u00a0active cases, and\u00a021\u00a0COVID-19-related deaths as of Jan. 16, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of identification, 1,805\u00a0were identified via contact tracing;\u00a01,724\u00a0via community testing; and 442 via travel testing.<\/p>\n<p>In related news, a total of 149\u00a0COVID-19 vaccines\u00a0were administered on Jan. 17, 2022, resulting in 97.9% of the CNMI\u2019s eligible population being fully vaccinated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A total of\u00a0172\u00a0COVID-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 16, 2022: 114\u00a0community-based testing and 58\u00a0at the COVID-19 Community Center (referrals only)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The CHCC continues to encourage the community to get vaccinated if they have not done so, or get their booster shot if they are eligible to help prevent severe illness, hospitalization, or death.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease seek care or test early if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, as you may be eligible for monoclonal antibodies or other new treatment that are given soon after infection,\u201d said CHCC in its latest news release. \u201cUnvaccinated individuals are at risk of serious illness from COVID-19, and unvaccinated individuals spread the virus at a higher rate than vaccinated individuals, thereby increasing the spread and risk of serious illness toward other unvaccinated individuals.\u201d <strong>(Saipan Tribune)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The number of COVID-19 cases in the CNMI has now climbed to a total of&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":360022,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[94],"tags":[257],"class_list":["post-360019","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-headlines","tag-nmi"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/360019","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/10"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=360019"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/360019\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/360022"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=360019"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=360019"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=360019"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
