{"id":360223,"date":"2022-01-21T06:04:40","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T20:04:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=360223"},"modified":"2022-01-21T06:04:40","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T20:04:40","slug":"51-new-cases-in-nmi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/51-new-cases-in-nmi\/","title":{"rendered":"51 new cases in NMI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A total of 51 additional individuals were confirmed positive for COVID-19 last Wednesday, Jan. 19, while 53 more cases were identified on Tuesday, Jan. 18, bringing the CNMI total to 4,118\u00a0cases since March 26,\u00a02020, according to separate Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. news releases last night and late Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Of the\u00a051\u00a0cases identified\u00a0last Wednesday, 23\u00a0were identified via contact tracing,\u00a017\u00a0via community testing, and 11\u00a0via travel testing.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 53 cases identified on Tuesday, 21 were identified via contact tracing, 28 via community testing, and four via travel testing. <\/p>\n<p>All affected individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored. The vaccination statuses of the 104 new cases are pending verification. <\/p>\n<p>Also, according to the CHCC new release, as of Jan. 19, 2022, seven individuals are hospitalized as a result of COVID-19, four of them unvaccinated. All three others are vaccinated. In an update last night, CHCC said that, as of Jan.\u00a020, 2022, there were\u00a0seven\u00a0individuals hospitalized as a result of COVID-19: three unvaccinated,\u00a0three\u00a0vaccinated, and one partially vaccinated. One of the seven patients is on a ventilator.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So far, of the total number of cases that have been identified in the CNMI, as of Jan. 19, 2022, there have already been 3,648\u00a0recoveries, 449\u00a0active cases. and 21 COVID-19-related deaths.<\/p>\n<p>On the vaccination front, a total of\u00a0184\u00a0COVID-19 vaccines\u00a0were administered on Jan.\u00a020, 2022, resulting in 98.3% of the CNMI\u2019s eligible population being fully vaccinated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A total of\u00a0503\u00a0COVID-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 19, 2022:\u00a0419\u00a0community-based testing; 48\u00a0at the COVID-19 Community Center (referrals only); 11 at the Tinian Health Center; and 25 at the Rota Health Center.<\/p>\n<p>The CHCC continues to encourage the community to get vaccinated if they have not done so, or get their booster shot if they are eligible to help prevent severe illness, hospitalization, or death.
