Public warned of rip currents<\/strong>
\nThe public is being warned of a high risk of rip currents through Wednesday afternoon on Saipan. Tinian, and Rota. <\/p>\n

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center\u2019s State Warning Point, dangerous rip currents are present along east facing reefs of the Marianas through this evening.<\/p>\n

Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Heights show seas increasing, as the shear line from the north continues to descend across the Marianas. The combination of northeasterly winds could make surf hazardous along north facing reefs tonight. <\/p>\n

The public is reminded to stay out of the water along east facing reefs. Elsewhere, swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don\u2019t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. (PR)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThe public is being warned that sea conditions will be hazardous to small craft. <\/p>\n

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center\u2019s State Warning Point, a small craft advisory remains in effect on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota until 6pm today, Wednesday<\/p>\n

Northeast winds of 20 to 25 knots, with gusts of up to 30 knots, plus seas rising to 8 to 10 feet are expected on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota coastal waters until 6pm Wednesday. <\/p>\n

Winds will remain fresh to strong and seas will continue to be hazardous to small craft due to the descending shear line from the north and another shear line ascending from the southeast. <\/p>\n

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in hazardous conditions. (PR)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scheduled water service interruption in Lower Dandan, Airport Road, Koblerville, portions of Kannat Tabla, As Lito, As Perdido <\/strong>
\nThere will be a scheduled water service interruption on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, from 8:30am to 4:30pm, for Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers in Lower Dandan, Airport Road, Koblerville, and portions of Kannat Tabla, As Lito and As Perdido (from Saint Jude Catholic Church to ABCD Market and Tottotville). <\/p>\n

The scheduled water service interruption is necessary to allow CUC\u2019s water operators to repair a 6-inch transmission water line break near Islander Rent-a-Car (Marfega Building) along Chalan Tun Herman Pan Road. Water service to the affected areas is anticipated to be completed by 4:30pm. Customers are advised to allow one to two hours for the system pressure to stabilize. <\/p>\n

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes as a portion of the road will be closed for the duration of the leak repair. <\/p>\n
