{"id":361781,"date":"2022-02-11T06:06:45","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T20:06:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=361781"},"modified":"2022-02-11T06:06:45","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T20:06:45","slug":"221-new-cases-idd-in-nmi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/221-new-cases-idd-in-nmi\/","title":{"rendered":"221 new cases ID\u2019d in NMI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two\u00a0hundred\u00a0twenty-one additional individuals have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 in the CNMI, bringing the Commonwealth\u2019s total to\u00a06,784\u00a0cases since March 26, 2020. <\/p>\n<p>In Guam, the Joint Information Center was notified of two COVID-19-related fatalities and 622 new cases, as well as 50 hospitalized.<\/p>\n<p>Of the\u00a0221\u00a0cases that were identified in the CNMI last Feb. 8, 2022, a total of 102 were identified via contact tracing and\u00a0119\u00a0via community testing. Of that number, six were\u00a0identified on Tinian and four on Rota. The vaccination statuses of the\u00a0221\u00a0cases are pending verification.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As of\u00a0Feb. 9, 2022, seven\u00a0individuals in the CNMI are hospitalized\u00a0as a result of\u00a0COVID-19, one of\u00a0them on a ventilator.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Of the total number of cases identified in the CNMI, as of\u00a0Feb. 8, 2022, there have been 4,841\u00a0recoveries; 1,920\u00a0active cases; and 23 COVID-19-related deaths. A total of 3,403\u00a0of these cases were identified via\u00a0contact tracing;\u00a02,764\u00a0via community testing; and 617\u00a0via travel testing.<\/p>\n<p>In Guam, the 304th COVID-19-related fatality was pronounced dead on arrival at the Guam Regional Medical City on Feb. 10, 2022. The patient was a 48-year-old male, unknown vaccination, with underlying health conditions who tested positive on February 10, 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 305th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital on Feb. 10, 2022. The patient was a 61-year-old male, vaccinated, with underlying health conditions who tested positive on February 4, 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIt is never easy to report more lives lost to this deadly virus, and to their family and those who loved them, we extend our deepest sympathies and condolences,\u201d said Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero in the JIC statement. \u201cAs a community, we can save lives, and we do that by continuing the public health interventions, including wearing our masks, washing our hands, watching our distance, and getting vaccinated and boosted if it\u2019s your time. Please continue these mitigation measures to prevent more days of grief and sorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also, Guam\u2019s Department of Public Health and Social Services reported 622 new cases of COVID-19 from 2,437 specimens analyzed on Feb. 9, 2022. A total of 76 of the cases reported yesterday were through the Department of Defense.
