(CONTRIBUTED PHOTO)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANGILAO, Guam\u2014Guam Community College honored a combined 22 participants in the Diesel Mechanic I and Construction III boot camps in a completion ceremony on Monday, Feb; 28, 2022. <\/p>\n<p>Through GCC\u2019s partnerships with Employer Sponsors in the private sector, these participants will have employment opportunities in the very industries they have trained for.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_363181\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-363181\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/GCC-pix2w.jpg\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-363181\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Construction III group photo. (CONTRIBUTED PHOTO)<br \/><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Diesel Mechanic Boot Camp\u00a0GCC employer private sector partners include\u00a0Triple J Enterprises, Inc., Mr. Rubbishman, Mid Pac Far East, LLC, East West Rental Center, Inc., Guam Pak Express, Inc., Pepsi Bottling Company, and Morrico Equipment, and Atkins Kroll Inc. All of these students represent a very important part of our future. They\u2019ve committed time to learn the trade and skills and now they have the opportunity for employment. Thank you to all of you [here] for your motivation and your efforts in making our community economy even stronger,\u201d said Guam Gov. Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 22 completers, 13 are from the Diesel Mechanic I boot camp with courses like Introduction to Diesel Tech and Preventative Maintenance I and Diesel Tech and Preventative Maintenance II, Diesel Engines I.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_363196\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-363196\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/GCC-pix5w.jpg\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-363196\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Mary Okada, president of Guam Community College, addresses the attendees. (CONTRIBUTED PHOTO)<br \/><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Construction III boot camp was fully funded by the Department of the Interior\u2019s Technical Assistance Program Grant awarded to GCC. There were a total of nine completers and they have all completed courses relative to the industry: Introduction to Carpentry, Electricity Level 1, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Level 1. In addition to these courses, students will also receive their certification to provide Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with an automated defibrillator.
