Quitugua\" width=\"180\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-36345\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36345\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Elvin R. Quitugua<\/figcaption><\/figure>Society officials has announced that 12th grader Elvin R. Quitugua is now accepted to the group, which recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship, and community commitments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a great shock when I received the nomination letter in the mail! It was a great surprise and I am honored to have been selected to be a member of this prestigious national organization and to the amazing teachers and instructors who have recommended me to this society,\u201d said the 18-year-old scholar.<\/p>\n<p>Quitugua is the son of Elbert Borja Quitugua and Jane Rodriguez Quitugua.<\/p>\n<p>After high school, he plans to go to England, United Kingdom to pursue a bachelor degree and later obtain a master\u2019s degree in computer software development and information technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI plan to take my skills and what I have learned back to the CNMI and create a service that will provide and hopefully benefit other businesses on island and use it to bring Chamorro awareness and learning into the 21st century,\u201d he told Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>Quitugua is currently a National Honor Society member at his school&#8217;s chapter, served as a Youth Advisory Panel member, MyWAVE Club secretary, Junior Achievement company &#8220;Express It!&#8221; and member of the KHS\u2019 Dream Team that won second place in the Real World Design Challenge back in 2012, and various community service activities like the Chamorro Psycholinguitics Project.<\/p>\n<p>According to NHSS president James Lewis, the vision of the society is to build a dynamic international organization that connects members with meaningful content, resources, and opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe aim to help students like Elvin build on their academic successes and enhance the skills and desires to have  a positive impact on the global community,\u201d said the president.<\/p>\n<p>The NSHHS was formed in 2002 and has more than 950,000 members throughout more than 160 countries.
