(FERDIE DE LA TORRE)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Former Board of Parole chair Ramon Blas \u201cRB\u201d Camacho, who is running for Saipan mayor in this year\u2019s election, has secured the endorsement of Lt. Gov.<br \/>\nArnold I. Palacios and Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang as the independent tandem\u2019s candidate for Saipan mayor on Nov. 8.<\/p>\n<p>This will be Camacho\u2019s third successive run as an independent mayoral candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Palacios and Apatang, who are running as governor and lieutenant governor, respectively, on an independent ticket, announced their endorsement of Camacho in a news briefing at the Palacios-Apatang team\u2019s headquarters in Garapan late Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really appreciate their trust and confidence in recruiting me and I\u2019m willing also to join the group,\u201d said Camacho in a later interview. <\/p>\n<p>Camacho believes that the Palacios-Apatang group can do so much better for the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>When asked why the people of Saipan should vote for him, Camacho said that people have seen all his work in the past when he was in the municipal council, which was focused on promoting a safe and healthy community. One of Camacho\u2019s initiatives was the creation of a neighborhood watch. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really for serving the community. Once the community steps up to the plate, it will lessen these problems that we are facing, specifically crimes in villages,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Camacho said he is a retired police officer and had been in the police for 20 years and that he sees that the police and the government cannot do it by themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to invite the community in, in order to have and promote a safe community,\u201d Camacho said.<\/p>\n<p>Palacios said they are happy to have Camacho on their team, as he has served the community well in different capacities.<\/p>\n<p>Palacios said they will endorse Camacho as mayor, while Camacho will endorse their team.<\/p>\n<p>Apatang said Camacho has been following their group since the beginning and that he is a very aggressive candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Apatang said that they will be \u201cworking together, hand in hand\u201d with Camacho for this election.<\/p>\n<p>Apatang beat Camacho in the last two mayoral races.<\/p>\n<p>For this year\u2019s mayoral race, Camacho will be facing off with Rep. Joseph Lee Pan Guerrero of the NMI Republican Party and Rep. Richard T.
