{"id":367096,"date":"2022-04-27T06:00:59","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T20:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=367096"},"modified":"2022-04-27T06:00:59","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T20:00:59","slug":"mtec-scholarship-application-deadline-on-april-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/mtec-scholarship-application-deadline-on-april-29\/","title":{"rendered":"MTEC scholarship application deadline on April 29"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Marianas Tourism Education Council reminds graduating seniors that applications for the school year 2021-2022 MTEC scholarship program is April 29, 2022. <\/p>\n<p>The program aims to award a $2,000 scholarship and a $1,000 scholarship for two high school seniors who have been members of a MY WAVE (Marianas Youth Welcome All Visitors Enthusiastically) Club for at least one year in high school. Graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education are eligible to apply. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe MTEC board continues to focus on tourism and education initiatives,\u201d said MTEC acting chairwoman Vicky Benavente. \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to awarding the scholarship to a 2022 CNMI high school graduate.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements: <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Have at least one-year membership in a high school MY WAVE Club (Verification letter with signature from MWC advisor, school counselor or administrator) <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Submission of official transcript from last high school attended showing GPA of 3.0 or higher <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Recommendation letter from a current or former teacher, MY WAVE Club advisor, counselor or administrator <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Essay submission from applicant, describing career pathway\/goals and purpose of study (300-500 words essay limit, typed) <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Acceptance letter from university or college applied to <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Three  proof of MY WAVE CLUB active participation <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Submission of the MY WAVE Club\/Community Involvement Summary <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Submission of letter(s) of acceptance from a college or university(ies) applied to <\/p>\n<p>Applications are available at the Marianas Visitors Authority office. The first MTEC scholarship was issued in 2017 to Saipan Southern High School graduate Renafe Aniga. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to Benavente, MTEC board members include Priscilla M.
