Donald Manglona (Ind-Rota) has officially announced his intent to run for a Senate seat in the upcoming general election on Nov. 8.

According to Manglona’s social media post over the weekend, the district 7 representative will be running in this year’s election as an independent candidate.

“As the current road in this fulfilling journey nears its destination, I have contemplated which new roads to take. After much thinking and discussions with family, friends and dear people of Rota, I have decided to take a much-needed drive to the Senate where I will bring my leadership, integrity, and commitment to improve our CNMI. There is no doubt that speed bumps lie ahead, but be assured that I will not stray away from the promises I made when I first ran for office. I will continue to fight for a better CNMI and work cohesively with my colleagues to ensure that our people are always put first,” he stated.

Manglona

Manglona said he remains committed to serving the people of Rota no matter what his political affiliation.

“I hope that my actions speak for itself and that I have proven my dedication to the people of our beloved Rota—and not to any one party, individual, or corporation. I hope you continue to see in me, a leader who will not be compromised nor compromise our island for the gain of a few. With this, I invite you to accompany me in this journey and in November, I humbly ask for your vote of confidence in me, Donald Manalang Manglona, for senator,” he said.

Manglona said if he succeeds, he aims to continue to work on legislation that protects the government, its resources, and secures a promising future for generations to come.

“I have introduced legislation that protects our vulnerable people from hate crimes and punishes those who cause harm to others for choosing to be free in how they identify themselves, and in who they can love. Additionally, I have introduced legislation that takes back control of how local and federal funds should be appropriated by the Legislature in order to address the many concerns and issues we face today. Currently, I’m working on legislation to require funding to be set aside to support our people from future emergencies and disasters. Currently, I am in the process of working to restore flights to Guam,” Manglona said.

Rep.
