Gov. Ralph DLG Torres signed Tuesday at the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. the proclamation that designates the week of May 8-14, 2022,\u00a0as National Hospital Week.<\/p>\n
The proclamation states that National Hospital Week is an opportunity to highlight the Commonwealth Health Center, Tinian Health Center, and Rota Health Center, and the more than 850 health care workers and the innovative ways they support the CNMI community.<\/p>\n
The proclamation recognizes that health care workers of the CNMI not only met the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also continue to play a critical role in the CNMI\u2019s COVID-19 response efforts while providing routine health care for the people of the CNMI.<\/p>\n
\u201cHospitals and nurses support the needs of patients and community.\u00a0National Hospital Week is a time for everyone\u2014individuals, employers, other health care professionals, community leaders and nurses\u2014to recognize the positive impact that health care workers have on our families and friends,\u201d it added.\u201dWe are honored to celebrate the individuals who are working tirelessly to help others in their greatest time of need, especially during recent periods when the CNMI was experiencing COVID-19 surges.\u201d<\/p>\n
The American Hospital Association\u2019s theme of \u201cWe are Health Care\u201d recognizes the individuals who work in America\u2019s hospitals and health systems and asks the public to join in this effort to help celebrate National Hospital Week by showing support to all health care workers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI call upon all citizens of the Commonwealth to take an active interest in their health by visiting a doctor or nurse to receive regular check-ups and preventive screenings, staying active, and eating healthy,\u201d Torres said.
