The Public School System\u2019s Office of Instructional Technology and Distance Education hosted its 10th commencement ceremony for the Educational Technology Training Program, which graduated a total of 106 participants last Thursday, May 12, at the Kensington Hotel Saipan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Ed Tech Program is a yearlong training program consisting of five 45-hour certification courses that involve using and integrating technology to improve the quality of instruction and learning.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Upon completion of the course, the amount of time put into professional development equates to 225 hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In his congratulatory remarks, Dr. Bobby Cruz, director of Instructional Technology and Distance Education, said that technology alone is just a tool. \u201cWhen technology is paired with amazing educators, that is when the magic happens,\u201d\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n
Cruz challenged the newly graduated EdTech participants to continue pursuing their professional growth as educators and to continue advocating for effective technology integration in the 21st-century classroom.<\/p>\n
PSS and the Board of Education leadership\u2014represented at the ceremony Education by Commissioner Dr. Alfred Ada and BOE chair Gregory Borja\u2014shared a joint message of pride for the hard work and commitment of all Ed Tech participants from both the private and public schools to grow as professionals and embrace the role that technology plays in supporting learning.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe continue to refine the program with our amazing Ed Tech Instructors to improve the quality of learning for the professionals we serve,\u201d said Lorraine Catienza, distance education program manager. \u201cOur goal is to continue to employ the transformative use of technology to support teaching and learning and prepare our educators to participate and succeed in an increasingly tech-driven world. Our educators are the key to making this goal a reality, so we continue to invest in them.\u201d<\/p>\n
The commencement was attended by 200 people, including the Ed Tech graduates, instructors, PSS management, BOE members, and school administrators from both public and private schools. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
