The CNMI saw yet another increase in fuel prices yesterday, just two weeks since the last, with Mobil Oil Marianas leading the way with a 15-cent increase.<\/p>\n
Around 3pm yesterday, Mobil Oil Marianas raised its fuel prices; Shell Marianas is expected to follow suit this morning. <\/p>\n
Mobil now charges $6.26 for a gallon of its Extra fuel, from $6.11. Its Supreme fuel was hiked from $6.56 per gallon to $6.71 while diesel is now $6.88 from $6.98.<\/p>\n
For the past few week, CNMI fuel prices have seen a steady incline. <\/p>\n
Prior to yesterday\u2019s increase, oil companies across Saipan raised prices by 15 cents on May 6. Last April 20, the CNMI saw a steep increase of 20 cents, with local oil companies increasing regular fuel prices to $5.96 for a gallon.<\/p>\n
The CNMI saw its first fuel increase of the year back on Jan. 5, when local oil companies raised prices of regular fuel to $4.96, followed by a string of increases that reached an all-time-high of $6.06 per gallon of regular fuel in March. The CNMI then finally saw its first gas rollback in mid-March, with oil companies bringing regular fuel down to $5.86. The rollback was followed by yet another increase at the end of March with fuel going back up to $6.01.<\/p>\n
According to a local motorist, she was so shocked to see fuel prices this high. <\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t believe fuel is actually this expensive now. I wasn\u2019t sure if we reached an all-time-high before but I am sure now. This is ridiculous,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
A 43-year-old motorist said he was shocked to see how high fuel prices have gotten. <\/p>\n
