{"id":370595,"date":"2022-06-17T06:06:32","date_gmt":"2022-06-16T20:06:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=370595"},"modified":"2022-06-17T06:06:32","modified_gmt":"2022-06-16T20:06:32","slug":"team-nmi-sweeps-kiribati-solomons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/team-nmi-sweeps-kiribati-solomons\/","title":{"rendered":"Team NMI sweeps Kiribati, Solomons"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_370603\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-370603\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/team.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/team.jpg\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-370603\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">CNMI National Tennis Team\u2019s Colin Sinclair, left, and Asia Raulerson in action as team play of the tennis event of the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 got underway yesterday.(MARK RABAGO)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The CNMI started the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 with a flourish after the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams swept their first round opponents yesterday at the American Memorial Park and Pacific Islands Club tennis courts.<\/p>\n<p>Robbie Schorr gave Team NMI the win in the first singles match after blanking Kiribati\u2019s Benjamin Kourabi, 4-0, 4-0, at AMP.<\/p>\n<p>Not to be outdone, his fellow doubles gold medalist in the Apia, Samoa Pacific Games in 2019, Colin Sinclair, also didn\u2019t drop a game in beating Aato Boari Torua, 4-0, 4-0.<\/p>\n<p>Schorr then played with another Colin\u2014Ramsey\u2014in completing the CNMI\u2019s 3-0 win over Kiribati after the duo defeated Torua and Kourabi, 4-0, 4-2.<\/p>\n<p>Sinclair, a veteran of the ITF Pro Tour, said it\u2019s always nice to win your first match in team play.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReally good to get this under our belts and get into the tournament with a nice win against Kiribati.\u00a0 You want to give your opponent the respect they deserve and play your hardest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Sporting a new haircut, Sinclair said he cut his long locks because of Saipan\u2019s heat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLooked a little scruffy so you know what\u2026I wanted to look sharp on the court and you look good, you play good. It\u2019s also a bit too hot so I wanted to cool my head a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schorr, for his part, said nothing compares to competing in front of the home crowd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt feels good to be playing here at home with the support of friends and family. It\u2019s amazing and you can\u2019t ask for anything more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like Sinclair, he said he just played his usual game and didn\u2019t want his opponent to get any kind of confidence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just played my game, was consistent, and used my forehand. I just made the first move and put the ball on the defensive end.
