Recent Mount Carmel School graduates Robin Kyle Manansala Alvarez, Fiona Marielle Avenga\u00f1a Bucalig, Richard Jesus Mafnas Villagomez, Jaeuk Choi, Lyndon Mole\u00f1o Digno, and Hyun Namkung have gained admission to each of their respective colleges for their undergraduate education.<\/p>\n

Attending the University of Arizona are Mount Carmel School 2022 graduates Alvarez and Bucalig.<\/p>\n

Majoring in astronomy, Alvarez said he chose the University of Arizona, \u201cbecause of their reputation in majors such as astronomy, cybersecurity, and its countless opportunities for students to connect and collaborate. The financial aid I\u2019ve been offered and extensive research done with my parents helped me commit to this university.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bucalig said she aims to pursue biomedical engineering at the University of Arizona which has remained one of her top college choices throughout high school. \u201cEver since I was younger, I\u2019ve always wanted to go to college in Arizona. I chose the University of Arizona because I wanted to go somewhere that would challenge me academically and force me to grow as a person. Overall, I think that I will thrive and successfully pursue my degree at the University of Arizona.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reaching one of his personal goals, Villagomez, who is Mount Carmel School\u2019s recent salutatorian, is set to\u00a0attend the University of California, Berkeley. Pursuing computer science as his major, Villagomez said, \u201cI chose UC Berkeley because it\u2019s my dream school; it\u2019s a renowned school in computer science with a strong reputation for impact. At UC Berkeley, I\u2019ll have countless opportunities to explore my interests and challenge myself in order to grow. I\u2019m beyond grateful for this amazing opportunity and will do my best to make the most out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Attending the University of Guam are Choi, who will major in pre-nursing; Digno, who will major in civil engineering; and Namkung, who will major in marketing and communications. <\/p>\n

Capturing the excitement shared among his peers Digno said, \u201cI committed to the University of Guam in hopes of pursuing a career in civil engineering. I chose this university because I wanted to find a school that was close to home. I instantly fell in love with the news that they would be able to teach one of the many things that interest me\u2014engineering. To have such an opportunity to take a course with big interest and to have family, friends, and loved ones at a close distance from home is a big but honest choice. I have hope for UOG because it will make me grow more as a person and find out the many opportunities I can\u2019t wait to experience. A new chapter of me is emerging soon, and I can\u2019t wait!\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the community impact of Super Typhoon Soundelor, Super Typhoon Yutu, and the COVID-19 pandemic, Mount Carmel School continues to strengthen its college preparatory program in order to support its graduate\u2019s academic and professional endeavors. In addition to rigorous academic programs, Mount Carmel School prioritizes its student\u2019s access to varying extra-curricular activities, apostolic programs, and community service opportunities.<\/p>\n
