DeLeon Guerrero questioned Thursday the intent of a bill that would slash the compensation of the CCC members. <\/p>\n<p>At CCC board\u2019s monthly meeting last week, DeLeon Guerrero said it appears that the bill seeks to reduce the compensation of the CCC members. He said they are not employees of the Commonwealth and are not eligible for any benefits such as health insurance that other government board members are entitled to.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Edward-C.-DeLeon-Guerrero7-11-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-373283\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Personally, DeLeon Guerrero said, it would sound very enticing if the Legislature wants to cover his health insurance. <\/p>\n<p>He said it appears that CCC was not even asked to comment on the bill. <\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_356802\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-356802\" style=\"width: 108px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Celina-R.-Babauta27-108x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"108\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-356802\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-356802\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Babauta<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Rep. Celina R. Babauta (D-Saipan) is the author of House Bill 22-111. She stated in the legislation that the compensation of the CCC exceeds that of many other instrumentalities of the Commonwealth government. Yet, Babauta said, with the license of the sole casino licensee, Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC suspended, the funding mechanism for this \u201cgenerous compensation is now effectively defunct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said it is necessary to bring the compensation of the commission members in line with other public boards and commissions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Commonwealth Casino Commission board chair Edward C.
