(CONTRIBUTED PHOTO)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Newly formed Scoutz Youth Baseball will be holding a fundraising softball tournament starting this weekend at the Capitol Hill Baseball Field.<\/p>\n<p>Tournament coordinator Rayna Sablan said money raised from the CNMI Youth Baseball Team Fundraiser will be used to support the team\u2019s trip to Guam.<\/p>\n<p>Scoutz Youth Baseball will take part in the Labor Day Marianas Softball Tournament set from Sept. 2 to 5.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team\u2019s manager Jerome Delos Santos was invited by Mr. [University of Guam baseball team head coach] Roke Alcantara Jr. for a friendly between both teams. We are looking to host the [fundraising] event here to include Guam and make this an annual event for the Marianas youth by inviting teams from Rota and Tinian. Future goals for this annual friendship tournament is to expand to other micronesia states to include Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia,\u201d she said.\u2028Scoutz Youth Baseball hopes to raise $4,000 with a full 20-team sign up for the fundraising softball tilt.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the tournament is halfway through its goal with 12 teams already confirming their participation, namely YaoYao, Kemeliz, Homies, Clique, No Excuses, Tok\u00e1H\u00e5o, Scoutz 1, Scoutz 2, Dat\u2019s It, Lock Down, Red Men, and Regulators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still open and will cap at 20 teams total for a double-elimination [format],\u201d said Sablan.<\/p>\n<p>Games schedule is from Aug. 12 to 15 and Aug. 17 to 19 with the possibility of a home run derby on Aug. 21. Weekday games will be 6pm-10pm and weekend games will be 8am-10pm (subject to change due to unforeseen weather).<\/p>\n<p>The fundraising softball tournament has a three-tiered sponsorship plan.<\/p>\n<p>Those who have already signed up for gold sponsorship are the Rotaract Club of Saipan and McDonald\u2019s of Saipan &amp; Guam. Those in the silver level are Latte Built Saipan and Grace \u201cPitu\u201d Sablan, while Gold\u2019s Gym Saipan and Poki-Yaki have signed up for bronze sponsorship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re inviting all lovers of the game to come on down as we have a vendor sponsor: Saipan Isla Shave Ice.
