Victor Borja Hocog (R-Rota) said he decided not to seek any elected position this Nov. 8 general election to give the younger generation that opportunity to enter the arena of politics.

Hocog stated in an interview last week, though, that he will still be politically active when his four-year term as senator expires in January 2023.“But as far as seeking re-election, I want to honor what I made during my inaugural speech that I will not run, or it’s going to be my last term,” said Hocog, who is turning 69 next month.

Upon his term’s expiration, Hocog said he will relax by doing fishing and farming on Rota.

For the Senate Rota seats, the NMI Republican Party’s bets are Rota Mayor Efraim M. Atalig and special assistant for Department of Homeland Security Dennis James C. We were short so I took a break and engaged myself to work with a company out of Japan to build the Rota Resort,” Hocog said.

He then worked with a golf course of the hotel, and built a small construction company. He then successfully ran for the Senate in 2012.

When then-governor Eloy S. Inos died in December 2015, then-lieutenant governor Ralph DLG Torres became governor and Hocog, who was then the Senate president, assumed the lieutenant governor’s position until January 2019.

He was re-elected senator and served as Senate president from January 2019 to January 2021.

Sen.
