{"id":37601,"date":"2014-06-03T07:00:59","date_gmt":"2014-06-02T21:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=37601"},"modified":"2014-06-03T07:00:59","modified_gmt":"2014-06-02T21:00:59","slug":"kataki-enemy-staged-sugar-king-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/kataki-enemy-staged-sugar-king-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Kataki (The Enemy) to be staged at Sugar King Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Friends of the Arts will be staging Shimon Wincelberg\u2019s Kataki (The Enemy), at Sugar King Park on June 7 and 8, from 5pm to 7pm, beginning with an optional tour of the Park, conducted by members of the Marianas High School Japanese Language Club.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Harold Easton and produced by Leo Goode, this one-act play with a cast of two will be giving the audience a taste of the Pacific war front, following the fall of Saipan. The story tells of a young American airman (played by Francis Fidelino) and an older Japanese sailor (played by Yoshi Matsuda) stranded on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean on the B29 Route to Tokyo during World War II. With neither knowing the other\u2019s language, and a single bayonet shared between them, the two men attempt to communicate and coexist on the island. <\/p>\n<p>The community and members of the Friends of the Arts are invited to come to the play and get in on the action with tickets at $15 for the general public, $12 for members of the Friends of the Arts, $8 for students, and $5 for Thespians.
