{"id":376024,"date":"2022-09-16T06:06:21","date_gmt":"2022-09-15T20:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=376024"},"modified":"2022-09-16T06:06:21","modified_gmt":"2022-09-15T20:06:21","slug":"national-team-has-grown-a-lot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/national-team-has-grown-a-lot\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018National team has grown a lot\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_376028\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-376028\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/NMIFA-pixwb-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/NMIFA-pixwb-1.jpg\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-376028\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The NMI\u2019s Kohtaro Sangel Goto, middle, and Dev Bachani, right, go up against a Syria player in Game 2 of the Asian Confederation U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Amman, Jordan.\u00a0(NMIFA)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The NMI U20 Men\u2019s National Soccer Team that is competing in the Asian Football Confederation U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Amman, Jordan has lost two games, but coach Michiteru Mita said the team \u201chas grown a lot by making use of the experience from past competitions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Their first game was against Turkmenistan, which they lost, 0-7, and their second game was against Syria, which they lost 0-10.<\/p>\n<p>With that, Mita said \u201cof course the results were not desired because we had been training very hard and also we always try to win every game and always want to make our islands community proud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But despite the losses, the team has \u201cgot very good experience playing with high level football in the best stage\u2026\u201d said Mita on a positive note.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCompared with the last U19 AFC tournament in 2019, I feel the national team\u2019s development on and off the pitch. For example [the] technical side, for sure we are improving in terms of defending with discipline, tactics understanding, and our collective play. However, because of the level of competition, boys are required to think a second faster\u2026\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that if \u201cplay accuracy\u201d or \u201csimple details\u201d were neglected in a normal game play, \u201cit does not become a mistake, but at this level it leads to a big mistake.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition, in a very tough environment where we have to fight against various factors such as extremely dry weather, time difference, and high intensity matches from long travels, players and staff always strive to do their best. We are trying to do it. After two games, the players are still showing their desire to improve and play a good game,\u201d he said about the games.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The staff \u201ccontinue to analyze the games, maintain the condition of the players and manage their health, and provide maximum support so that the players can perform at their best\u2026 We continue [to] work hard for [the] last two games. I would like to ask the soccer community to continue to support the team. Thank you,\u201d said Mita in his last message.<\/p>\n<p>The team flew out last Sept. 7 for a two-day flight to Jordan.
