{"id":378018,"date":"2022-10-20T06:05:37","date_gmt":"2022-10-19T20:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=378018"},"modified":"2022-10-20T06:05:37","modified_gmt":"2022-10-19T20:05:37","slug":"dfems-reaches-out-to-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/dfems-reaches-out-to-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"DFEMS reaches out to schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services concluded its celebration of National Fire Prevention week with an outreach to select schools on Saipan. <\/p>\n<p>From Oct. 9, to Oct. 15, DFEMS celebrated National Fallen Firefighters\u00a0Day and National Fire Prevention Week. The theme for National Fire Prevention Week was \u201cFire won\u2019t wait, plan\u00a0your\u00a0escape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To cap the weeklong celebration, DFEMS visited select schools for a meet-and-greet, where students were given an opportunity to meet with local firefighters to learn about the importance of coming up with an escape plan in the case of a home fire. <\/p>\n<p>According to DFEMS spokesperson Robert Mojica, from the Oct. 12 through Oct. 14, DFEMS, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, and American Red Cross-NMI Chapter visited Francisco M. Sablan Middle School, Tanapag Middle School, and Cha Cha Ocean View Jr. High to teach students about fire safety and how to create a plan for escape in case there is a fire\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0home.<\/p>\n<p>The DFEMS\u2019 mascot, Sparky, was also brought to the schools during the meet-and-greet. <\/p>\n<p>Last Oct. 4, DFEMS, ARFF, and American Red Cross had a proclamation signing at the Office of the Governor.
